MMABSE Scholarship Aplication

* * * The Metropolitan Milwaukee Alliance of Black School Educators’ (MMABSE) Burns-Starms Scholarship fund was established in honor of two of MMABSE’s deceased past presidents, Mr. Cloyce Burns and Mr. Robert Starms.  Their vision, through the MMABSE organization, was to motivate, encourage, and assist urban students toward excellence in education. This scholarship award is intended to provide funds for the purchase of books for college coursework. Students of all races, colors, and creeds are encouraged to apply. Scholarship recipients will be announced each May.   * * *

 

                    The following criteria will be used to select the recipients:

• Applicants must be eligible for graduation in May/June of 2007.
     
• Applicants must be enrolling in college for the 2007 fall semester.

                            

• Applicants must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher.               Attach a copy of your transcript to the application. This transcript must             include the applicant's first semester final grades.                                                                                                                                      

• Applicants must submit a personal statement (not more than one typed page).      This statement should detail the applicant's career aspirations and goals.                                                                                                                                              
• Applicants must submit at least one letter of recommendation.  This letter can be    from a teacher, school administrator, employer, clergy-person, coach or counselor.

            

Scholarship award recipients will be required to submit a copy of their college acceptance letters to the committee prior to receiving funds. Applications are available in the guidance office of your school and online. Click the link below to print the application from our web site.
